What a busy day! It started with me oversleeping, waking at 9:08, rushing to get ready and head to my forum meeting. The meeting went well--I always learn something--but halfway through, I got an email from the girls at work saying our server was down. Big time down, not just reboot-a-couple-of-times-and-it'll-get-better. A call to my dad ensued, which confirmed that the server really had some problems. I finally got to the office around 2, and proceeded to meet about letters to customers, plans for our new release, and strategizing about potential new hires.

I ran straight from work to grab the kids I babysit. We went to the park for a while, killed some time--I had fun trying to climb a jungle gym in a skirt. Then it was off to the 'rents to grab Sophers, chat about miscellany, and then home. Cousin Marshall overmade smoothies, so I went straight to the freezer for the leftovers.

And now a blog. I'm sorry I don't have any deep thoughts. I used to, but blogging for three years may have burned me out. I'm trying to make more of a habit out of it, if only to make it easier for me to be consistent with the work blog once it gets going. I need to improve my eloquency.

After an afternoon with trips to Home Depot, Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn searching for paint colors, a good nap with the Sixth Sense in the background, we headed to downtown D-town for dinner. Since Lee and Kristen live there, it will become an attractive destination, and an excuse to head to one of my favorite parts of town. Tonight it was the Porch, which was chic, in a downtown Dallas, country-store kind of way. I should have taken pictures--the brick walls, school house lighting, chalkboard on the wall, red-pleather booths, all added to the delicious charm. I started with a cuban sparkler cocktail--basically a combination of a mojito with champagne and raspberries. David picked a bottle of Australian wine (we can't remember the name), and then we moved to Cocodrillo, which was very, very good for the price. Highly recommend. Dessert was a s'mores sundae--can't go wrong with that.

Tomorrow, our lives as a married couple will truly begin. I think we are both ready to get back to our regular workouts (for me, a regular run and training for a 10k), and our normal attempts at healthy lifestyles. We have a ton of thank-you notes to write, on top of regular work schedules and travel. It's gonna be a busy week.

This is my first "legitimate" blog. I've successfully resisted the urge to start doing this, but what the heck. From time to time I have a random stream of thoughts that want to come out, but this morning, they have bubbled to the surface.

We attended a wedding shower for a friend of mine who everyone thought would never get married, but somehow reconnected with an old girlfriend he knew was the one. Sounds familiar to me! We were standing around talking last night and someone made the comment "this is a married peoples party" and it hit home that I am one of those "married people". You go 37 years of your life wandering this way and that, but around one corner, your life takes a major turn. I am VERY happy with that turn and I know this is where I'm supposed to be.

I had resigned myself to a life of bachelor-hood, but wait! I found it funny that a good friend of mine is now going down the same road we did and it started right about the same time. When I stop and think about it, like last night, it was a mistake on my part to even think about giving up on being "married people".

That's all I have, hope it doesn't bore you....

So it snowed 7 inches in Dallas today. David left home at 11, and sent me a photo from his windshield an hour later. The gray, snowy, sleety mess looked like quite another world than the sunny, albeit chilly day we were having in OKC. By 3 o'clock, one of the girls at work said her friend was stuck in a ditch outside Denton, and by 4 o'clock, David had pretty much decided I wasn't going to drive down that night.

So, after twelve nights of marital bliss, darling hubby and I spent our first evening apart. I was a little disappointed, but called Allison immediately to see if she was free for one of our impromptu dinners. To DFG we went. One cheese platter, two entrees, and EIGHT desserts later, the owner comped our bill. We tipped big, and ran out of the door before they could pamper us any more.

So, the evening has ended well. And I'm going to end this blog before I start another paragraph with the word "so". For those of you who aren't familiar with my blogging habits, please understand that they tend to be nonsensical streams of consciousness, scattered with bad spelling and marginal grammar.

I have another story to tell, one about friends with superb taste, but I'll save it for another post.

There are no profound thoughts this morning. I hit the road running yesterday, with a full day back at the office. I always love the ideas and the progress that I feel the team is making on the days when I'm there, but I never feel like I have anything done at the end of the day. We're in the middle of design mode right now, and I'm starting to stress about the May collections. They always turn out ok in the end, but getting them "just right" is a chore in the process.

David is heading back to Dallas today; I'm going to follow him tonight. We're almost to two weeks of marriage and it so much fun. Last night we had dinner at the Wedge--delish--and stopped at Flip's on the way home to grab a couple of Peronis and a gooey chocolate pudding. I treated myself to two pieces of Truffle Shuffle pizza for breakfast this morning. I think that it is quite evident that my diet, at least, is still on honeymoon.

I'm hoping I can get started posting pictures on this blog, but for now, just a good ol' morning blog is a great start to the blogging routine.
